Secret Place
Inspired by Matthew 6
God is in the secret places of our lives. He is also in the open spaces of our lives.
God is in the ordinary, mundane normal activities of our day. He is hiding in plain sight. Hidden from us, all the while he is right there with us; working it out.
God is not about showing himself in somethings, and some places he wants you to see him in everything, and in every situation. We can't see him because we are looking for him in the wrong places.
We want God to be in the big things, the obvious times in our Life when we know this is too much for us. We want him in the life or death moments, the financial crisis moments, we want him in the medical emergency moments. But what about the everyday moments?
He wants us in every moment. He wants to meet us in our secret place, that place that only he can see, that place where we are bare, authentic and pure. That place where our true self is released from the bondage of looking right and acting right so we can be accepted by falling man.
That place where we suspend falsehood, deceptive tactics, facade and lay down all the acts and pretending that we are sure when we know and he knows we are not.
You know that place where you keep your true identity, your secret hopes, dreams, and desires. That place you go, for inspiration, rejuvenation and to be set on fire with creative desire.
That is the secret place, it is not on display to the world. That place has a name some call it, self, others call it soul, it is really spirit. We are a spirit, we have a soul and live in a body.
Your Soul is the door to it, but it is not the secret place I am talking about. Your soul is your mind, will, and emotions, they try to protect, guard the door as if they need to cover the real you.
You are a Spirit and I am as well. Our Spirit is where all that we need to live well dwells. Your Spirit is the secret place where God wants to meet you.
The word is clear we must worship him in Spirit and truth. We have to meet him in our Spirit but we have to go through our soul to get there. You want to see God out in the open, then go meet with him often in the secret place, that lays just behind the door of your soul; in your heart where the Spirit, you reside.
You want him in the miraculous, he wants you in the mundane. You want him in the emergency, he wants you in the normal, simple and the ordinary.
Go to your secret place and tell him how you feel, let him give you direction, purpose and his Heavenly will, for your life. No matter how hard we try, how hard we work, the hours, we read, memorize and recite the scriptures in front of crowds. Time is not long enough in this life, to replace the value of meeting our Father, heart to heart and face to face in the Secret Place.
